memu not opening windows 11

MEmu MEmu 9 / Windows 10, Windows 11 Last verified October 2026 Risk: none
Quick answer

Enable Virtualization in BIOS and disable Hyper-V and Core Isolation, then reinstall. MEmu won't open when its engine can't start under Windows 11.

MEmu won’t start on Windows 11 — it either flashes and closes or shows a virtualization error. Like every Android emulator, MEmu rides on a virtual machine engine, and on Windows 11 that engine is blocked by two things: virtualization turned off in the BIOS, and Hyper-V / Core Isolation occupying the layer MEmu needs.

1. Virtualization is off

  1. Enable VT-x (Intel) or SVM (AMD) in the BIOS
Reboot into your BIOS and turn on Intel Virtualization Technology or AMD SVM Mode. If this is off, no Android emulator will open — MEmu, BlueStacks, and LDPlayer all fail the same way.
Task Manager → Performance → CPU shows "Virtualization: Enabled".

2. Hyper-V is occupying the layer

  1. Disable Hyper-V, Virtual Machine Platform, and Core Isolation
Uncheck these in Windows Features, and turn off Memory Integrity in Windows Security. Core Isolation is the sneaky one — it leaves the hypervisor on even when the other boxes are unticked.
All three are off after reboot.
  2. Clear the Hyper-V boot flag
Run bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off as administrator. The GUI alone doesn't always clear it.
bcdedit reports the flag as Off.

3. A broken install

  1. Reinstall MEmu after fixing virtualization
If MEmu was installed while VT was off, its engine is misconfigured. Uninstall, reboot, then reinstall with virtualization on.
MEmu launches to its home screen with the engine running.

Same problem, different emulator

BlueStacks hits the identical Hyper-V wall — see the BlueStacks Hyper-V conflict fix. If MEmu opens but runs slowly, that’s settings, not a launch failure.
