kenji nx android white screen
Open Kenji-NX and switch the graphics backend, then clear the cache. A white or black screen on Android usually means the renderer couldn't start.
On Android, Kenji-NX either shows a white screen (common on Android 10 devices) or gets stuck on a black screen after you pick a game. These are renderer failures, not corrupted games — the emulator can’t get a picture out of your GPU.
Why it happens on Android
Android GPUs and drivers vary far more than on desktop. Older devices (Android 10 era) may lack the Vulkan features Kenji-NX expects, and some Mali and Adreno drivers crash the renderer on first draw. The result is a blank screen instead of a crash dialog.
Fix the renderer
-
Switch the graphics backendOpen Settings → Graphics in Kenji-NX and change the backend (Vulkan ↔ OpenGL, if both are offered). A white screen on one backend often clears on the other, because the failing driver path is skipped. The game draws its first frame instead of a blank screen.
-
Update the app and your GPU driversNewer Kenji-NX builds fix device-specific renderer bugs, and some phones receive GPU driver updates through the manufacturer or a driver app. An Android 10 device that whitescreens may simply be too old for the Vulkan path the build assumes. The same game runs after the update where it previously blanked.
-
Clear the shader cacheA cache written during a failed draw can make every later launch blank at the same spot. Clear it and let Kenji-NX rebuild shaders. The next launch gets past the point where it used to go blank, even if it takes longer while shaders rebuild.
Confirm the basics first
-
Make sure keys and firmware are presentA game that can't initialise system modules can hang on black before drawing. This looks like a render failure but has a different cause — see the firmware stuck fix.The firmware dialog shows an installed version.
If it still blanks
Some devices just don’t have a compatible GPU path yet. On desktop, the same titles run through Eden or Ryubing; if Android is your only option, wait for a build that adds your GPU to the supported path.
