Pokemon HOME and trading on emulators

Quick answer

Use LDN to trade Pokemon between emulator users, but you cannot send them to Pokemon HOME; HOME needs Nintendo servers that emulators do not reach.

Two different questions get mixed together here: can you trade Pokemon between emulator players, and can you move them into Pokemon HOME. The first works; the second does not. Here is the split, so you don’t waste time trying the impossible one.

Trading between emulator players: yes

Local trading works through LDN, the same emulated local wireless that handles other multiplayer.

  1. Enable LDN in both emulators
Turn on LDN in the network settings and have both players connect over the internet, with UPnP on the host router and the emulator allowed through the firewall, so the two instances see each other as two consoles.
The game's trade or local-play menu becomes reachable.
  2. Use matching game and version
Both players need the same title and game update. A version mismatch is the usual reason a trade won't connect.
Both sides show the same game version.
  3. Trade from the in-game menu
Once connected, use the game's own trade feature. The emulator only provides the local link; the trading logic is the game's.
    The trade completes in-game.

Sending to Pokemon HOME: no

Pokemon HOME is Nintendo’s cloud service. It requires an official Nintendo account and connection to Nintendo’s servers, which no Switch emulator reaches. There is no supported way to upload an emulator save’s Pokemon into HOME. Anything claiming otherwise is either a scam or a misunderstanding of local trading. Keep Pokemon on the emulator, or move the save between emulators by keeping the same title ID and matching emulator versions.

Moving saves between emulators

You can carry a save from one emulator to another — same game, same region, same title ID — so your collection isn’t trapped in one build. That is save migration, not HOME transfer, and it stays entirely local.
