Ryubing on macOS setup

Ryubing Ryubing (latest) / macOS 12 Monterey or later, Apple Silicon recommended Last verified October 2026 Risk: none
Quick answer

Install the .NET runtime, then open Ryubing and set your keys and firmware paths to run Switch games on macOS.

Ryubing is the maintained macOS fork of Ryujinx, and it runs natively on Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4). Intel Macs work too but run slower. The three things macOS needs that Windows doesn’t: a .NET runtime, a Vulkan layer (MoltenVK, bundled), and your own keys and firmware.

Get Ryubing running on macOS

  1. Install the .NET runtime
Ryubing is a .NET app, so macOS needs the runtime first. Download the .NET 8 or 9 runtime from Microsoft and install the pkg. Without it the app won't launch.
Running dotnet --version in Terminal prints a number, not "command not found".
  2. Open Ryubing and let it initialize
Download the macOS build and open it. On first run macOS may flag it as unsigned — allow it in System Settings → Privacy & Security. The app creates its config folder under ~/Library/Application Support.
The Ryubing window opens and shows an empty game list.
  3. Set your keys and firmware paths
Point Ryubing at the prod.keys and firmware you dumped from a Switch you own (Options → Settings → System). macOS stores these in the app's config, not the game folder.
Settings shows "Keys: loaded" and "Firmware: valid".
  4. Load a game and confirm graphics
Add your ROM directory and launch a title. Apple Silicon uses MoltenVK (Vulkan on Metal) automatically; if a game renders black, switch the graphics backend in Settings and retry.
A game boots to its first frame at playable speed.

If it won’t open on first launch

macOS Gatekeeper blocks unsigned apps. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, find the Ryubing block message, and click “Open Anyway”. This is a one-time step per app version.
