Switch emulator 60 FPS and ultrawide mods
Install a game's 60 FPS mod and unlock the frame limiter in Ryubing, Ryujinx, Eden, or Citron to raise its frame rate.
Most first-party Switch games target 30 frames per second, but many have community-made 60 FPS and ultrawide mods, and the emulator can also lift its own frame cap. Neither changes the game’s files for you — you supply the mod, and the emulator just loads it. These steps work in Ryubing, Ryujinx, Eden, and Citron because they share the same mod system.
Raise the frame rate
-
Install the game's 60 FPS modFrame rate is locked inside each game, so the 60 FPS mod is what actually unlocks it. Mods are files you provide, not something the emulator downloads. Place them in the emulator's per-game mod folder (the mods directory under the emulator's user data, in a subfolder named after the game's title ID), then enable the mod in the game's properties window. The game's properties show the 60 FPS mod enabled and selected.
-
Unlock the frame limiterOpen Graphics settings and set the frame limit to off or to 60 or 120. On its own this will not turn a 30 FPS game into 60 — the game must support it, which is what the mod does. The limiter only stops the emulator from capping the now-unlocked rate.Frame limit is set to uncapped and the in-game counter climbs past 30.
-
Use Vulkan and a capable GPURunning at 60 or 120 FPS roughly doubles the GPU load versus 30. Use the Vulkan backend and a discrete or strong integrated GPU. On weak hardware, unlocking the rate causes stutter rather than smoothness — check the low-end settings guide first.GPU usage rises and the frame rate stays steady instead of spiking.
-
Apply an ultrawide aspect mod if wantedFor wider monitors, an aspect-ratio mod removes the black bars, and you set a custom resolution to match your display. This is cosmetic and separate from the frame rate mod; both can run together. The image fills the ultrawide display with no stretching.
What to expect
A 60 FPS mod is game-specific — not every title has one, and some that do can break physics, cutscenes, or motion controls at the higher rate, so test in a safe save. The emulator only loads the mod you provide; it still needs the same keys, firmware, and game files you already use to run the game at all. If your hardware is the bottleneck, start from the low-end PC settings before chasing frame rate, and install the emulator from ryubing-install if you have not already.
